Many Czech readers fondly recall growing up with books from Albatros – a legendary children’s publisher whose stories shaped generations. In 2008, the name took on new life as it became part of Albatros Media Group, now the largest publishing house in the Czech Republic.

Today, Albatros Media Group brings together a diverse family of over twenty publishing imprints. We are proud to develop our own original content, working closely with both emerging and established Czech authors to create high-quality books that resonate with readers of all ages. Alongside our homegrown titles, our portfolio features globally recognized names such as J.K. Rowling and Jo Nesbø, as well as beloved brands like Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars.
International Reach & Licensing
With a strong international focus, we create books for readers around the world. Albatros Media regularly participates in major global book fairs in Bologna, Frankfurt, and London, as well as in key markets further afield—such as Guadalajara, New York, Beijing, Taipei, and Seoul. Our titles have been published in over 40 languages, with millions of copies sold worldwide. They have earned numerous accolades, including the prestigious Bologna Ragazzi Award, selection for the White Raven catalogue, and praise from publications like The Wall Street Journal.
Each year, we sell over 500 licenses to more than 50 countries, from Argentina to Japan. In addition to foreign publishers releasing our Czech titles under their own imprints, we also distribute books directly in selected markets.

Albatros Media offers much more than expertly edited books. We operate a nationwide distribution network, run a thriving e-shop expanding across Europe, and manage innovative projects such as the second-hand bookshop Restorio and a dedicated crowdfunding platform.
Driven by a strong sense of social responsibility, our Albatros Foundation supports disadvantaged children and youth—helping to bring new stories to life, both on and off the page.
